When a Product Designer moves to Bollywood — feature image

Arastu Zakia is an ex-product designer and startup entrepreneur from Ahmedabad who moved to Bombay to pursue filmmaking. By the time of this workshop he had spent five years in Bollywood, directing three shorts and writing a feature film, three series and eight more short films. As of December 2023, he was writing a film in which Rajkummar Rao plays Bhagat Singh (35:55).

On 2 December 2023, from 11 am to 1 pm, Arastu took a group of product designers through the process of filmmaking using the language of product design: need, research and ideation (form, treatment and leverage), followed by the terminology of a film set. At the end, the participants made a short film together, Life of a Designer, in under two hours. Watch the film on YouTube.
